Homecoming is in the past.

Homecoming 2017, Nov. 9-11, will feature old favorites and the newest tradition: the Lipscomb Honors ceremony, recognizing Lipscomb alumni for their inspiring positive impact on the world.

On Thursday, Nov. 9, Lipscomb will hold the second annual Lipscomb Honors: An Evening of Story and Song event at the Country Music Hall of Fame. The event will honor award recipients: Kerri Pauley Edwards ’93, president of KP Entertainment, a company that manages artists Luke Bryan, Cole Swindell and others; and Bruce Bowers ’72, former Metro Nashville Public Schools administrator and member of the Lipscomb Athletics Hall of Fame. The evening also features special guest songwritersThe Lipscomb Honors are the highest honor conferred upon alumni and will highlight the unique ways alumni contribute to and make a lasting impact on humankind far beyond the borders of Lipscomb’s campus. Cost: $100/person.* Business Attire. Reserve your seat through the HC-Market.

On Friday, Nov. 10, alumni are invited to attend the Bison Day Celebration at 1:30 p.m. in Bison Square. Favorite campus traditions will return to Lipscomb and Greek organizations will hold a competition of skits using the Bison Day theme.

Throughout Homecoming weekend, Lipscomb Theatre will present the hit romantic comedy musical She Loves Me, telling the story of Amalia and Georg, shop clerks in the 1930s who are carrying on a romantic correspondence with secret admirers. The musical is based on the same story as the movie You’ve Got Mail. The performance will be staged in Willard Collins Auditorium, Nov. 10-12, and tickets are available at lipscomb.edu/theatre.

This year the highlights include a Bison basketball game against Emory University on Friday, Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m. in Allen Arena. For those who can’t get enough, the Bisons will play again on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 12, against Morehead State University. Join your fellow fans in Allen Arena to cheer on the Bisons. The evening also features recognition of Miss Lipscomb and the Bachelor of Ugliness, a Kidzone, Greek Night and a special academic reception at halftime in McQuiddy Gym. Cost: No charge to attend, but RSVP is requested through the HC-Market to receive free General Admission game tickets.

On Saturday, Nov. 11, Lipscomb Athletics will host a Hall of Fame Luncheon in the Student Activities Center. Honorees include Lynn Randolph Dearing ’96 (women’s basketball), Erin Hall Fletcher ’00 (softball), Mark French (meritorious service), Deborah Spencer Garner ’92 (women’s basketball), Kelli Dobbins Hasley ’01(softball), Andy McQueen ’94 (men’s basketball), Katherine Neely Murrie ’03 (women’s golf) and Kenyatta Perry ’97 (men’s basketball). Cost: $25 per person; tables of eight for $200. In addition to these signature events, Homecoming 2017 will offer an entire weekend of milestone reunions (including 25th and 50th class reunions), college and department reunions and receptions, and social club reunions, including several 50th anniversary reunions.
